About Us:
Isador Lazar (1888 -1937), entered the scrap metal and bottle hauling industry in 1909, establishing himself in Oakland, CA. His commitment to recycling laid the foundation for what would become A1 Recycling & Lakeside Non-Ferrous Metals. Today, his great-grandson, a 4th generation scrap metal dealer, proudly carries on that legacy as the company's owner.
Pictured here is a sculpture of Lester Finkel, the president of Lakeside Non-ferrous metal, a scrap metal buyer and wholesale exporter that continued the family legacy before his son took over and expanded the business.
Pictured here is the original scrap yard established by Isador Lazar, located in Oakland, CA, with direct connection to the Oakland Port for materials export beginning in 1936. Today, we look to continue the family legacy as a 5th generation business looking to create a positive environmental impact in California.
